BREAKING: Blaze withdraw submission to BA, will not play next season

According to a person close to the Tomlinson family, the Gold Coast Blaze owners have withdrawn their submission to Basketball Australia and will not play in the NBL next season.

“The NBL’s request for more information has tipped the Tomlinson family over the edge and (they) are unable to continue. They are withdrawing their application.”

“They felt their submission was sufficient and put their energy into that and to go through it all again, they just don’t have the energy.”

Earlier today, BA responded to the clubs submission by requesting more information as well as evidence of the club holding the $1 million bank guarantee required to participate.

The Gold Coast Bulletin’s Daniel Meers said the Tomlinson’s believed they were required to pay much less than the entire $1 million.

The decision means the NBL will go back to an 8 team competition next season with no team between Townsville and Sydney.
