With Ray Allen looking likely to leave Boston, the Celtics have locked in on a new target: Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Jason Terry. As far as replacements go, this is about as seamless as one can get. Terry is just as automatic a shooter as Allen, loves crunchtime, has championship experience, and is 3 years younger.
The Mavericks are said to still be interested in bringing him back, and the Clippers are also a potential suitor for Terry’s services. For Terry, he has stated that he is looking for financial security with what is likely his last big contract, so whoever has the most money to sign him should probably be considered the favourites. In that respect, the Celtics should be right on track to lock him down, but if Dallas misses out on Deron Williams and comes back with a decent offer, it would be hard to imagine Terry leaving the team he’s called home for the past 8 seasons.
