Chris Broussard of ESPN.com has reported that Dwight Howard met with new Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan that he wanted to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets. This is nothing new, he’d asked to be traded to Brooklyn in December before the season began, and again in April when he went under the knife for a back procedure.
The more bizarre aspect of this story comes from the revelation that Howard is seeking to pursue legal action against the Magic because he felt he was “blackmailed” into opting in for the final year of his contract. The aim of the legal action is to void his opt-in and allow him to sign with Brooklyn as a free agent this offseason. However, the players union is said to have no plans to pursue the action, as they are likely aware this is nothing more than a desperate ploy from Howard to try and undo his own mistake.
